George Joseph Rossi, 77, of Colorado Springs went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 26, 2013. He was born to the late Joseph Albert and Adeline Conti Rossi, February 21, 1936 in Brooklyn NY. George graduated from Boys Academic High School in January 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1955 to 1958. He married Marjorie Gretz in 1959, and four children were born to this union. George worked for General Electric Corporation for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Following divorce, George relocated to Colorado Springs where he attended Colorado Baptist College and served his local church in the bus ministry, nursing home ministry and Sunbeams ministry for adults with Down’s Syndrome. In 2001 George married Mary L. Sexton, who survived him along with his brother Robert Angelo Rossi, his four children Linda Thompson (Chris) of San Diego, CA; Mark Rossi (Ellen) of Cheyenne, WY; George Rossi (Denise) of Columbia, SC; Wendy Sounders (Russell) of Flourtown, PA; 14 grandchildren , and one great-grandson. He is also survived by five stepchildren, Yvonne Noble (Blake) of Colorado Springs; Debra Grissett of Colorado Springs; Mark Sexton of Indianapolis, IN; Darrell Sexton of Phoenix, AZ; Karen Lowry (Scott) of Indianapolis, IN; 11 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Timberline Baptist Church 512 Canon Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829 for repair of the flood damage. The viewing will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday October 30, 2013 at Timberline Baptist Church with funeral service at 1:00 p.m. The burial at Ft Logan is Thursday October 31, 2013 at 10:30 am staging area “B”.
