February 17th, 1924 - September 9th, 2016
Gertrude E. Hammond, 92, of West Columbia, SC passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 9, 2016. She was born in Elgin, SC to the late Alex and Esther Goff Branham. Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Harmon of West Columbia, Belinda Urhammer of Lexington, Trudy H. Burnett of Cayce, Joyce Hammond of West Columbia; and son, R. Darryl Hammond of Lexington. She also leaves behind her brother, Rowland Branham of Atlanta, GA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and her brothers, Herbert and "PeeWee" Branham. Funeral services will be at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 12 Noon. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Contributions in her loving memory may be donated to Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stoneridge Dr., Ste. 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
