Gilbert "Jim" Poitra October 16, 1947 ~ June 29, 2019 It is with sadness and broken hearts, that the Poitra announces their beloved Gilbert "Jim" Poitra, went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2019 in Denver, Colorado. Jim was born in Belcourt, North Dakota on October 16, 1947 to his parents Gilbert P. Poitra and Gloria E. Poitra. He was the first of nine children born in the family. Jim served his country in United States Army, he was a 5E, he received the National Defense Award and the Over Seas Ribbon. He worked at Gates Rubber Company as a machinist for 38+ years. He enjoyed gambling, card games, fishing; collecting stamps, loved the Denver Broncos and multiple sports and most of all, loved his family life. He is preceded in death by his Son Leon James Poitra; both parents Gilbert P. and Gloria E Poitra; and Brother Norbert W. Poitra. Those he is survived by to cherish his loving memory, is his Wife Rita Rose Marie Poitra; Sons, Tovias, Francisco and Todd; Grandchildren, Garrett, Dakota, Pamela and Dominic; Brother Dwayne; Sisters, Collette, Colleen, Sherry, Jacky and Renee; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 5:00pm, with Prayer of the Rosary at 6:00pm at Romero Funeral Chapel ~ 1805 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, July 10th, 2019 at 12:00pm at All Saints Catholic Church 2559 S. Federal Blvd., Denver, Colorado. Interment with Military Honors will be rendered at 2:15pm, Staging Area "C", at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
