Gloria Gonzales

Gloria Gonzales ended her journey with us on February 28, 2018, at the age of 88 years, surrounded and held by those she loved. Gloria was a proud native of Mesa, Arizona. During World War II, in her early teens, Gloria began working in Downtown Mesa at The Nile and The Ritz movie theaters. She went on to work as a nurse's assistant specializing in elder care, particularly dementia. A natural healer and Certified Nurse's Assistant, Gloria knew precisely what her patients and their families needed, and would lovingly support them. Gloria's thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and she was often found reading several books at once. She adored her plants and grew species that were impossible to grow, especially here in the Sonoran Desert. She was a talented seamstress, embroiderer, and crocheter. Gloria loved feeding her family and could quickly prepare a feast fit for royalty. All jobs and hobbies failed in comparison to Gloria's proudest roles as mother and wife. Gloria is now with her beloved husband, Armando, and her son, Armando Jr. (Ardy), who left her early to make sure heaven was ready for such a dynamic spirit. Gloria is survived by her children - Frank, Diane (Tommy), and Marlene (Robert Sr.). Her grandchildren - Holly (Luis Sr.), Vivian "Amy" (Arthur), Frankie (Christy), Brandi, Alicia, Robert Jr., Cesar, and Christian - will forever carry her love and amazing memories with them. Her great-grandchildren - Luis Jr., Veronica, Reuben, Nico, Scarlett, Azoah, Shania, Alissa, Devinn, Mia, and Brooklyn - honor her with their strength. Her great-great-grandchildren - Luis III, Daizie, Isaac and Xavier - carry Gloria's wonder of the world. Gloria's brothers - Cesar (Virginia) and Juan - remain. A Celebration of Gloria's life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 141 N. Macdonald, Mesa, AZ 85201. Gloria was a strong advocate for those living with dementia and their families. Donations much appreciated for The Dementia Society.
