Grace Beverly Buhler

Grace Buhler, 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many passed away on June 16, 2018. Grace Beverly Berg was born on June 24, 1938 to the late Alfred and Verna (Schliep) Berg and raised, along with her two sisters, Avis (deceased) and LouAnn on the family farm near Pine Island, Minnesota. She was baptized into Christ and confirmed at United Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, Minnesota and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1956.Shortly after graduating high school, she moved to Minneapolis, where she worked in medical records for Northwestern Hospital. On her birthday, June 24, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart Floyd Buhler at United Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, Minnesota. The couple lived in the Twin Cities until 1964, when they bought their first home in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. In 1974 the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado (where Floyd and Grace had spent their honeymoon) as Floyd helped to relocate a division of Honeywell. In 1991, the couple relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in another move with Honeywell and returned to Colorado Springs in 1997 upon Floyd's retirement.After moving to Colorado Springs, Grace spent much of the rest of her life working in retail sales and volunteering at hospital gift shops. The combination of her gift for gab and warm and inviting personality made it the job for which she was born. Grace loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, dining out, hosting parties and events, including the local neighborhood potluck picnics (which she hosted), volunteering for church coat drives and the funeral committee at Ascension Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Red Hats Society, and long time member of the Woodmen Valley Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors. She also loved to travel the world, visiting nearly every state in the USA, and multiple trips to Mexico and a large part of Europe. But most of all, she loved life.She is survived by her beloved husband, Floyd; her loving sons, Bradley (Gail) Buhler of Littleton, Colorado, and Jason Buhler of Colorado Springs; her grandsons, Jake and Ben Buhler; her sister, LouAnn (Harlan) Jopp of St. Cloud, Minnesota twenty-seven nieces and nephews and countless others that called her Mom or Nana.Blessed be her memory. Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Saturday, July 21, 2018, Ascension Lutheran Church, 2505 North Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909. A luncheon will follow the services at the church.
