Grace Marcella Thoma died peacefully on April 2, 2023. Her beloved husband John was by her side along with her daughter Ashley, her son Shane and other family members. Grace was born in Bergen County, New Jersey, the 3rd and last child of Edward and Catherine Iacono. Throughout her childhood Grace was the “good one”, never causing problems and always doing the right thing. She was her older brother’s champion, her daddy’s angel, and everyone’s friend. She was fearless, outspoken, and had a passion for life that was undeniable. Grace graduated from Rutgers University in 1986. It was in 1991, however, that Grace’s life changed forever. That was the year she met the love of her life, and the year before her beloved mother Catherine passed away at 49 from ovarian cancer. As Dickens wrote, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Grace and John were the perfect couple. They were each other’s true companion and best friend. In 1998, Grace gave birth to their two wonderful twins, the stars in Grace’s life, Shane and Ashley. Grace was a passionate sailor, traveler, and adventurer. Grace loved learning new and interesting things, meeting new people and having a good laugh. More than that, she adored her children and was amazing, mother to them. Ashley and Shane were her life, and John was her hero. Grace leaves behind her husband John, daughter Ashley, son Shane, brother Greg, and sister Patrica. She also leaves behind the wonderful members of the Thoma family whom she adored, including her loving in-laws Robert and Ann Thoma. Grace fought for 12 long years to survive. She now rests peacefully for eternity in the arms of God.
