Gwendolyn Sue Taylor
September 12th, 1946 - August 10th, 2021
Gwen Taylor was born in Centralia, Illinois to Juanita and Lambert Greenwalt. As a child, Gwen moved to Colorado Springs due to her severe asthma. Despite this challenge, she graduated from Palmer High School and married her lifelong love, Duane Taylor. Gwen worked side by side with Duane (also known as Curly) and their love grew as the Lord blessed them with two daughters - Wanda Sue (Dailey) and Michelle Anne (Bueno). Gwen served her family, friends, and the community for her whole life. Gwen loved God and people as the Lord commanded. Her desire to raise her girls in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord" truly brought joy to the Taylor household as well as the churches where she served. Gwen and Curly were famous in our town for music parties where they sang gospel hymns and played piano and guitar together. In addition to raising wonderful daughters and sharing her faith, Gwen also served as an Executive Secretary for the District 11 Superintendent. Her tremendous work ethic and desire to serve brought her both recognition and kind words from her former superintendents. Gwen is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mona McCoon and Sharon Reed; and her brother, Ronald Greenwalt. She is survived by her husband, Duane Taylor; her daughters, Wanda (Kevin) Dailey and Michelle (Patrick) Bueno; and her grandchildren, Brandon Tullis (Kaylyn Evans), Stephanie Tullis, Cameron Bueno, Taylor (Derek) Shafer, and Megan Dailey; her great-grandchildren, Kilian Tullis, Khloe Preather, Jack Shafer, and Luke Shafer; her siblings, sister, Marilyn (Bill) Mable; her brothers-in-law, Ray (Kathy) Taylor and Dan (Pat) Taylor; and her sisters-in-law, Sharon Gilchrist and Hazel Doxey.A Celebration of Life for Gwen Taylor will be held at 1:00PM, Thursday, August 19, 2021, Faith Covenant Bible Chapel, 1311 Columbine Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.
