H. David (Dave) Brannon, age 86, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on December 2, 2014 at St. Francis Nursing Home in Colorado Springs. There will be no memorial service, but a graveside service for the family only, will be held onDecember 8, 2014 at Ft. Logan Cemetery in Denver, CO. Dave was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Herbert Brannon & Evelyn Stafford on December 16, 1927. He graduated from Redford High School in Detroit, MI in 1946 and served during World War II, in the Naval Coast Guard as a radio man and also became a pilot. After being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard, Dave was an insurance broker for several insurance companies & then became an aviation insurance broker exclusively. He then started Aviation General Agency in 1967 when he moved with his family to Cody, Wyoming and underwrote for Lloyds of London for many years, insuring small aircraft & Forest Service fleets in the Northwestern United States. Dave was a member of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association) & wrote for their journal for several years. Dave served as a deacon, at the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, CO in the early 60’s. He served as president of Shoshone River Power in Cody, did weather reports for Wapiti Valley, Wyoming on the Cody, Wyoming radio station, KODI & served on numerous other boards & committees during the time he resided in Wapiti Valley. He also owned & operated Absaroka Mountain Lodge & Brannon’s Wilderness Lodge in Wapiti Valley. Dave is survived by his daughters Sharon Brannon and Caroline Rueffert, son Robert Brannon & daughter Virginia Pierson, sister Lynne Mitchell, seven grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren & several nieces & nehpews. Dave is preceded in death by his previous wives, Nancy Weidlich & Virginia Nordheim, father Herbert S. Brannon, mother, Evelyn Stafford & brother Herbert Brannon.
