H. Virginia Browne, aka Ginger Browne, age 92, passed peacefully at home from this world into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 15, 2024.

 

She is survived by her children, Suzanne Browne Manthei and Roger James Browne III, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica, Michelle, and Caroline Manthei, and Olivia Browne. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Percival and Lily Presley, and Jett Browne. She is predeceased by her husband, Roger James Browne, II, and her siblings, Bettina Butler Goossen, and Charles Thomas Butler.

She was born December 25, 1931, in Butlerville, NY, to Thomas Madden Butler and Hortense Kline Butler. Ginger graduated from Elmira College in the spring of 1952, she worked as a school secretary for 2 years, before she married Roger James Browne, II, at West Point on June 19th, 1954. Ginger was a faithful Army wife, traveling to 30 duty stations in the USA and abroad. Roger and Ginger retired in Colorado Springs. They enjoyed playing golf, entertaining friends and family, and being involved in their local church.

Ginger was the consummate Army wife, traveling to 30 duty stations in the 30 years of her husband’s career. She traveled to many countries in Europe and Asia during their Army life together. She enjoyed needlecrafts and taught knitting to anyone who wanted to learn. She also was a Girl Scout Leader, a docent, and docent emeritus at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. She enjoyed hiking all over Colorado and went from the top of Pikes Peak one week, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon the next with her hiking group. She taught Sunday School to 4-year-old for years.

A Memorial Service is planned for June 29th at Forestgate Presbyterian, in Colorado Springs.
