Harold D. Gass
January 10th, 1934 - April 19th, 2018
Harold D. Gass, 84, of Mt. Holly, NC, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018. Born in Sevierville, TN, January 10, 1934, son of the late James Clarence Gass and Anna Vance Moncrief, he was raised in TN and lived in the Columbia, SC area for many years. Harold served in the US Army after the Korean War and spent time in Germany. He was employed by Rowe International and retired from Brady Distributing, Charlotte, NC. Harold was selfless, always focused on doing for others. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his friends and family and participating in all their activities. He leaves a son, Roy Gass and his wife, Rhonda (Oswald) Gass of Austin, TX; a daughter, Karen Spradley Smith and her husband, Gregg of Orangeburg, SC; four grandchildren, Anna (Gass) van Esch, Matthew Gass, Clayton Charles Spradley Jr. (Charlie), and Courtney Spradley; a brother, George Moncrief (Skipper) of Arcadia, FL; and a sister, Sarah Gibson of Sevierville, TN. He was predeceased by three brothers, James, William and David Gass. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. The family has designated the Gary Sinise Foundation, PO Box 50008, Studio City, CA 91614-5001 for contributions in Harold’s honor.
