Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Harold Norman Lieberman
January 2nd, 1941 - October 4th, 2021
Harold ""Harry"" Norman Lieberman, 80, of Nokomis, FL passed away on October 4, 2021 after a brief illness. Harry was born on January 2, 1941, in Greenbelt, Maryland, and grew up in Prince Georges County, MD. After high school Harry joined the Navy and qualified in the Submarine Service. He served on two boats, the Sea Lion and the James K. Polk, more fondly known as the ""Jimmy K"". Many years later, he attended the Deactivation Service for the Jimmy K and organized the first James K. Polk reunion, which is enjoyed by so many Jimmy K sailors every year. In his civilian life, Harry worked in the communications satellite industry, retiring from Hughes Network Systems. In 1987, Harry married his second wife, Toni. Their first date was a white water rafting trip and the rest was history. One of their favorite activities was exploring the Caribbean on catamaran sailing trips with friends, to ports near St. Vincent and the Grenadine Islands. Harry was the strong silent type. He was the perfect listener, always there to provide a shoulder to lean on, sharing thoughtful advice to family and friends. He was a wonderful story teller and shared many. Harry is survived by two sons, Harold Jr, ""Bud"" and John Lieberman, his daughter Lisa Deener and husband Mike, and his step children Valerie Haigh and husband Scott, Todd Collier and Kelly Collier. His grandchildren: Amanda and Michael Deener, Blaine Lieberman, and Cassidy and Kelli Haigh; a brother, Jack Lieberman and sister, Susan Davidson. He is predeceased by a sister Antoinette Lieberman and parents Albert and Mary Payne Lieberman. Funeral services will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery on October 25th at 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life reception to follow at the Ramada Venice, Hotel Venezia. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, at tidewellfoundation.org Service Information Date: Monday, October 25, 2021 Time: 1:00 pm Sarasota National Cemetery Address: 9810 State Road 72, , Sarasota, FL, 34241 941-922-7200 | Map
