April 9th, 1937 - April 13th, 2013
WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral services for Harry Curtis Railey, Sr., 76, of West Columbia, will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Kittiwake Baptist, officiated by Dr. Timothy Sieberhagen. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Andrew Collins, Gene Gainey, Joseph Railey, Brooks Railey, Corky Spires and Garrett Lacy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pioneer Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till 12 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Kittiwake Baptist Church Building Fund, 420 Kitti Wake Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170 or to Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge. Mr. Railey died Saturday, April 13, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late George Lee and Elizabeth Annie Taylor Railey. He was a member of Kittiwake Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director for 20 years, was a Deacon and member of the Pioneer Sunday School class. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 43 years of service and was a member of the United Trainman Union. Mr. Railey served six years in the United States Air Force. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Railey; daughters, June Collins and Leanne Sholly (Doug); sons, Curt Railey, Jr. (Valerie) and Julian Railey; sister, Carolina Best (Joe); brothers Ronnie Railey (Katherine) and Larry Railey (Martha); and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
