Helen Lynch Becker died Oct. 29, 2015, in Port Charlotte, FL at the age of 89. She was born to Peter Elmer Lynch and Ruth Hartman Lynch on April 19, 1926, in Mineola, LI, NY. Helen graduated from Roslyn High School. She then went on to St. Johns Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, where she graduated in 1947 and then went on to pass the test as a registered nurse. She was an accomplished seamstress, having taught sewing to young women while her children were growing up. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists, and Colonial Dames, and a 60+-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary associated with Post 456 in Sea Cliff, NY. She also was a past member of Sea Cliff Yacht Club, Snipe Fleet #4, and Overboard Snipe Fleet. She preceded in death by her father; mother; brother, Peter E. Lynch, Jr.; nephews Richard Lynch and Peter Gregory Lynch; and husband of 67 years, George W. Becker. She is survived by daughters Linda (David) Girardin, East Palatka, FL, and June (Richard) Harmon, Port Charlotte, FL; granddaughter April Harmon and great granddaughter Brooklynn Thomson also from Port Charlotte, FL; sister-in-law Ruth (William) Stehling, Boynton Beach, FL; cousins Julia Hartman Hancock and Daniel Hartman of Houston, TX; nieces Elizabeth Lynch, Northampton, MA; Eve Grady, Rising Fawn, GA; and Elise Becker, St. Petersburg, FL; nephews Scott Becker, Winter Park, FL, and Bill Stehling, Gainesville, FL; and her friends at Charlotte Harbor Healthcare. No services are planned except for a burial on Nov 2, 2015, at 11 AM, Sarasota National Cemetery, FL. Funeral arrangements are made by Farley Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Venice, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be appreciated to Tidwell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238; Trinity Episcopal Church, 1579 Northern Blvd #A, Roslyn, LI, NY 11576, St. David's Episcopal Church, 401 S Broadway, Englewood, FL 34223.
