Helga B. Loesche

Helga Brigitte Loesche, 84, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2022. Helga was born to Franz Weinmeier and Elizabeth Belitz Weinmeier in Magdeburg, Germany on March 19, 1938. When a baby, she moved with her family to Munich. She graduated from Handelsschule-Sabel junior college. She came to the United States in 1959 with her fiancé Walter C. Loesche of Lakeland, and the two married on August 29 of the same year. Helga was a devoted mother and wife, whose life centered around family. While a homemaker, she sewed outfits for her girls, cooked many delicious homemade meals, was involved in gardening and many home projects. She also had a circle of German lady friends who enjoyed each other’s company as they alternated hosting coffee klatches. She sang in the choirs at Resurrection Catholic Church of Lakeland and Saint George Catholic Church of Newnan, Georgia. After raising her children, Helga opened a furniture store in Newnan with the endeavor to provide quality furniture. Helga was a devout Catholic, faithfully attended Mass, and while able in her senior years, prayed the rosary daily. Helga was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her parents, sister Rosie, and grandson Blake Zeledon. Helga is survived by her daughters Bernadette Murray (Phil) of Winter Haven, Juliana Rogers (David) of Lakeland, Brigette Lawrence of Cypress Texas, Marilyn Petry of Newnan Georgia, her grandchildren Marione Lawrence, Victoria Lawrence, Samia Lawrence, Erica Curtis, Orlando Zeledon, Christopher Petry, Julianne Petry Grossman, Lauren Petry Royal, and her 8 great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, November 15 at 9:00 am at Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland. Arrangements are by Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Auburndale. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org in her memory are appreciated.
