May 8th, 1941 - October 30th, 2022
Helga Shobert, 81, of Columbia, SC passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 8, 1941, in Zweibrucken, Germany to the late Herbert and Hildegard Wagner Schaetzle. Helga was a fond lover of Elvis Presley and his music. She was extremely proud of her German heritage and loved to see her German friends in the local area. Most importantly Helga’s greatest love was her family. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Gerald Shobert; daughter, Jeannie Broome; and daughter-in-law, Alice Crow Shobert. Helga is survived by her loving children, sons, Chuck Shobert and Andy (Jennifer) Shobert; daughter, Sylvia (Allen) Nates; son-in-law, Carl Broome; her grandchildren, Christopher (Nikki) Broome, Jeremy (Caitlin) Nates, Jordan (Lauren) Nates, Brent (Lynsey) Shobert, Taylor (Taylor Brown) Shobert, McKenzie Shobert, and Payton Shobert; great grandchildren, Bryer Shobert, Riggs Shobert, Aiden Nates, Deacon Nates, Olivia Nates, Josie Nates, Parker Broome and Avery Broome; and her beloved dogs. The family will receive friends at North Trenholm Baptist Church on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at North Trenholm Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
