Henry R Dallam

Dr. Henry Rankin Dallam, Jr. passed away on January 15, 2017 in Venice, Florida. Born in Paducah, Kentucky January 2, 1930, he was known as an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, uncle, orthodontist and community leader. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Dorothy Dallam, wife, Gretchen Oehlschlaeger, and brother Lawrence Dallam. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wynne; three sons and wives, Henry III ""Hank"" and Susan, John and Rosemary, son, Daniel; two stepsons and their wives, Skip and Rebecca Besthoff, Len and Lyndsay Besthoff; 11 grandchildren, one great grandson; nephew and wife, Jim and Joanie Dallam, niece Laura Dallam and two grand nieces; and sister-in-law, Jill and husband, Curtis ""Corky"" Stewart. For the last twenty years, both he and Wynne lead a very active life at Plantation Golf and Country Club where he was President of the Plantation Community Foundation, Secretary of the Plantation Finance Committee and President of the Reserve Community. Dr. Dallam served as a Captain in the US Army stationed in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his degrees in dentistry and orthodontics from Washington University School of Dentistry in St. Louis, Missouri. He practiced orthodontics in Paducah, Kentucky until his retirement in 1995. As an active alumnus, he sponsored many scholarships and mentored dental students for over 50 years. As a fourth generation of the founding families of Grace Episcopal Church in Paducah, Kentucky, he served as Senior Warden and Vestry member for many years. He was also an active member of the Paducah Country Club and volunteered as President and board member. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice, FL on Sunday, January 29 at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Plantation Community Foundation, 500 Rockley Blvd., Venice, FL 34293 are suggested.
