March 1st, 1923 - January 3rd, 2013
WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Hortense Mellette Watts, 89, will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Gaston, officiated by Reverends Dr. Larry Harrison, Jerry Arnold and Johnny Baker. Interment will follow in First Baptist Church of Gaston Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Watts, Teddy Boldt, Joe Watts, Bobby Watts, Hank Watts and Josh Watts. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mrs. Watts passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013. Born in Turbeville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Russell Tillman Mellette and Gertrude DuBose Mellette. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaston. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Boldt (Ted) of Gaston; sons, Tyrone Watts (June) of Gaston, Bud Watts (Lindy) of West Columbia and Earl Watts (Linda) of Gaston; sister-in-law, Mary Mellette; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Homer T. Watts; sister, Norma Baggott and brother, Ray Mellette.
