Forever In Our Hearts
Howard D. Brown, 91, of West Melbourne, FL, formerly of Bedford, IN and Bloomington, IN, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at Vitas Hospice Care, Rockledge, FL.Born Oct. 10, 1932, Howard was the son of D. Harold and Thelma Isis (Howard) Brown. He was a 1950 graduate of Shawswick High School. On Feb. 3, 1951 he married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Marie Fountain. They were married 53 years. Following her death in April of 2004, he married Maxine Darnofall Dec. 19, 2004. She also preceded him in death May 22, 2015.Mr. Brown was a machinist for Indiana University and retired after 25 years of service in 1992. Hobbies included quartet singing, camping, Auxiliary Police, and shuffleboard. He was immersed into Christ Jesus in 1951, and at the time of his death served as an elder for the Christian Church at Palm Shores, FL.Survivors include three daughters: Kim (David) Powell of Culver, IN, Pamela (Scott) Rolfe of The Villages, FL, Benita Brown of Bloomington, IN, one son; Rodney Brown of Sedalia, MO, one step daughter; Judy (Jerry) McIntyre of Cincinnati, OH, two step sons; Terry (Mary) Darnofall of Raleigh, NC, Bill (Debra) Darnofall of Coer D-Alene, ID, 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, one sister, and numerous other relatives.In addition to his parents and both wives, he was preceded in death by two children-in-law, one grandchild, and one sister.
