Irene Jennie Olson, 86 of Tamarack passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. She was born July 8, 1933 in Automba Township to Arthur and Jennie (Luomanen) Anderson. Irene married Rodney "Bill" Olson on December 24, 1954 and they made their home in Kettle River before moving to the Twin Cities. While in the cities, she worked as a nurse's aide. They moved to Tamarack in 1979 and Irene worked at Heart Hat Sewing for several years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and active in its quilting group. She was also a member of the Wright Senior Citizens. Along with her husband and son, Mike, she was a volunteer cook at the Damiano Center in Duluth. Irene was a competitive card player and also enjoyed dominos, quilting, reading and gardening. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; three sons, Larry, Myron and Bill; and brother, Nilo Anderson. She is survived by three sons, Rick (Kathy) of Cromwell, Mike of Tamarack, and Mark (Danni) of St. Michael; two daughters, Diane (Joe) Lehn Eide of Champlin and Lynn (Herman) Hakala of Cromwell; sisters, Beverly "BJ" (Skip) Nesseth of Ft. Worth, Texas and Ellen Ellsworth of Cloquet; brother-in-law, Bud Olson of Wright; sister-in-law, Margaret Webster of Tamarack; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Friday, September 13, 2019 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
