Jack V. Johns, 83, of Winter Haven, FL passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, December 05, 2013 due to heart failure. Born August 3, 1930 in Forest, Indiana he moved to Winter Haven in 1972. He was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church; the Elks Lodge; American Legion Post 8; and the SPUDS Golf Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was Co-Founder of Southpoint Distributing. Jack is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Greta; 2 sons, Jeff Johns and his wife Terri of Winter Haven and Doug Johns and his wife Lynn of Sarasota; a brother, Frank Johns of Monroe, IN; a sister, Becky Howell of Tampa, FL; Five grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy and his wife Nichole, Tricia, Tiffany and her husband Dan, and Eric and his wife Rachael; and 2 great-grandchildren, Dawson and Payton. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm till 3:00pm, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers please make a Memorial Donation in his name to the American Heart Assn. Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
