Jacob Fredrick Bok
March 11th, 1923 - December 10th, 2020
Jacob Fredrick Bok, 97 of Meadowlands passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 in Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell. He was born March 11, 1923 in Herwijnen, Holland to Andrew and Johanna (Vanweelden) Bok. At the age of 6 his family moved to the United States settling on a farm in Harrison, South Dakota. He married Anna Lammers November 24, 1943 in New Holland, South Dakota. Jake's parents owned a farm and at the age of 10 Jake was doing the majority of the farming thus began his lifelong love of farming, farm machinery, welding, and mechanics. Jake moved his family to a farm in Meadowlands in April of 1951. He farmed and worked in the mines until he purchased a truck to haul grain from western ND and MN to the port in Duluth. Jake and Ann retired from farming and enjoyed many years of camping and his greatest joy, fishing. Throughout Jake's life he was involved with his church. He served on the church board, taught adult Sunday School and spread God's word whenever the opportunity arose. He was known for his honesty, quick wit, practical jokes, love of talking and stories of his life and how proud he was of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jake and Ann just recently their 77th Anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheryl A. Bok; and daughter-in-law, Ernestine Bok. Jake is survived by his wife, Ann; his children, Joan (Gary) Nelson, Andrew Bok, and Robert Bok; grandchildren, Curtis (Tami) Bok, Gary (Dawn Pieti) Nelson Jr., Beverly (Michael) Culver, Candace (Victor Etlick) Bok, Jenney (Marty) Galan, Cherrie (Toby) McGowan; and 10 great grandchildren. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 in New Life Community Church, 11698 County Road 8, Floodwood. Burial will be on May 22, 2021 in Rosehill Cemetery in Elmer Township. A dinner will follow the graveside service in the Meadowlands Community Center. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
