James H. Brickner of Pompano Beach, Florida (formerly of Winter Haven) passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017. He was 70. A native of Mineola, New York he was born June 12, 1947 to Howard and Gladys (Gregan) Brickner. James moved to Winter Haven in 1979 from Fort Lauderdale. He was a Fort Lauderdale Police Officer and a US Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War. More recently he worked in the real estate and appraisal industry and residential painting. He was retired. James is survived by: his love and life companion, Venita Belles of Pompano Beach, Florida; his sons, Joseph Brickner of Lake Wales, Florida and Jon Brickner (Kelly) of O'Fallon, Missouri; his siblings Richard Brickner (Sylvia) of Brevard, North Carolina, Daniel Brickner (Angela) of Auburndale, Florida, and Sandra Cook (William) of Winter Haven, Florida. James also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Memorial services celebrating his life will be at 2 PM Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.
