James C. Castle, Sr.
August 7th, 1939 - March 29th, 2022
James C. Castle Sr. of Hopkins, South Carolina passed peacefully in his home on March 29th surrounded by his children. Born in Dante, Virginia, he served in the United States Army for 24 years. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. James is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Thelma Castle; his parents, Bob and Anna Castle; his brother Bobby Gene Castle; and his sister, Mary Miller. He is survived by his three brothers, Ray (Ernestine) Castle, Wayne (Nina) Castle and Mike (Teresa) Castle; three sisters, Sue Gibson, Teresa (Mike) Hamilton and Tammy (Joe) Long; four children, Rita Ogden, Brenda (Frank) Daniel, James Castle Jr (Felicia), Carol (Jim) Sharpe; his ten grandchildren, Chrissie (Josh) Young, Ashley (James) Bowers, Kimberly (John) Rosier, Vince (Ryanne) Bowers, Courtney Sharpe, Jaime Sharpe, Tiffany Ogden, TJ Castle, Nick Castle, and Brandon Castle. Also surviving are his 14 great grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Billy, Skylar, Luke, Layla, Aniya, Bryce, Aria, Oliver, Alton, Liam, Raelynn, Maribel, Jalen, Jonathan; and his very special friend, Zennie. A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home Greenlawn Memorial Park on Saturday, April 2nd from 6pm until 8pm. A chapel service will be held Sunday, April 3rd at 1pm at Thompson Funeral Home Greenlawn Memorial Park with burial to follow at 2pm in Serenity Gardens.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
