James Edward Gantt, 80, of Lexington, husband of Janice Mitchell Gantt passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born on October 9, 1935 in Lexington County, to the late Carl Rudolph and Frances Williamson Gantt. James was a self-employed truck driver and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to his wife of 33 years, he is survived by two daughters, Angie Gantt and Terri Gantt; a son, Wally Gantt (Danielle); two sisters, Gloria Ryan and Joetta Belk; a brother, Charles Gantt; three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Gerri Gantt. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Stone River, 121 Alexander Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends from 12-pm until 2pm prior to the service. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
