Jim was born in Denver on September 16, 1943 to Adam and Violet Gies. He graduated from Alameda High School in 1962 and was proud to have served in the US Navy aboard the USS Yorktown. Jim passed away peacefully from complications due to a heart attack on August 24, 2019. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Raymond (Skip) and Bryan, and nephew Ken. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, ex-wife Lynnda and daughters Dawn (Dave)Walters and Jamie as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Services will be at Ft. Logan Cemetery on September 3 at 2:30 Staging Area “B”. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or the ASPCA.
