James D. Hall, 72, of Brookston died Friday, February 23, 2007 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Parkers Prairie, MN, the son of Maurice and Esther Hall. Jim graduated from Parkers Prairie High School. He married Jackie Henzlik on May 27, 1961 in Parkers Prairie. Jim served as a flight mechanic in the Navy for four years. During that time, he flew all over the world and flew a 60-day tour with Col. Radford, Joint Chiefs of Staff. Jim was employed as a general superintendent for a major construction company for more than 40 years. He worked on many large construction projects including the "Can of Worms" (the 535 and 35 bridges), the Ore Docks in Duluth, Midwest Energy Coal Loading Facility in Superior, MP&L Power Plant in Cohasset, the building of the Bong Bridge, the Duluth ship entry into the Canal and the reconstruction of the Aerial Lift Bridge, I-35 Tunnel/Freeway System, the reconstruction of the Blatnik Bridge and many other construction projects. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved to cook and was affectionately known as the "dill pickle connoisseur." He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Delores Gunderson, Gerry Urdahl and Kendora Larson. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jackie of Brookston; two sons, Cully (Barbara) of Saginaw and Kerry (Jody) of Esko; his daughter, Gayle (John) Schneider of Scanlon; six grandchildren, Amanda, Landon, Thomas, Becca, Jay and Adam; one great grandson, Mason; one brother, Donovan (Florence) Hall of Doylestown, PA; three sisters, Gert Benson of Litchfield, IL, Patty (Ray) Larson of Edina and Kathleen (Merlyn) Lokken of Litchfield, MN and many friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice nurses and staff at St. Mary's Medical Center for the wonderful care Jim received. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brookston. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
