WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral services for James Heyward Day, 79, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Bill Drees. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Howells, David Howells, Fritz Hill, Winn Andrews, Fritz Michael Hill and Preston Wages. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Day passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Born in Cayce, SC, he was a son of the late James Drayton Day and Inez Backman Day. He was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Day was retired from the E. I. DuPont Company. He loved to fish, work and loved baseball. Survivors include: his wife, Toby Willis Day of West Columbia; daughters, Tammy Day of West Columbia, Kim Hill of Aiken and Melissa Lorick of West Columbia; sister, Avalee Anderson of West Columbia; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; also his niece, Ruth Howells of Lexington.
