James E. Juntunen
January 3rd, 1935 - April 14th, 2002
James E. Juntunen, 67, Esko, died Sunday, April 14, 2002 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 3, 1935 in Cloquet, the son of Joseph and Lempi (Mattson) Juntunen, Jr. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Esko High School and attended UMD for a year. He married Ann Ojala in September of 1954 in Esko. Following her death in October 1971, Jim married Rose Curtiss on January 12, 1973 in Carlton. Jim was a retired employee of Potlatch Corporation, a member of Apostolic Lutheran Church, Esko, Potlatch Quarter Century Club and was a very good friend of Bill W. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, singing and socializing with his family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, in October 1971; his wife, Rose, in July 1992; son, Stephen Curtiss; grandchildren, Tony and Kathryn; brothers, Gordon and Robert and a sister, Roselle Lavoy. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Sue) Juntunen of West St. Paul; Laurie Plinski and Linda (Darrell) Johnson, both of Esko; Janet (Rick) Thyen of St. Cloud; Frank (Pam) Curtiss of Superior; Annette (Larry) Peterson of Moose Lake; Mike Curtiss of White Bear Lake, Karen (Larry) Pfeiffer and Paula Engen, both of Duluth; two brothers, Glenn Juntunen and Rev. Wayne (Patti) Juntunen, both of Esko; two sisters, Luella (Edwin) Bergstedt of Cloquet and Joyce Wilson (Edward Kelly) of Kennewick, WA; a sister-in-law, Irene Juntunen of Esko; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in Apostolic Lutheran Church, Esko. Spring interment will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Esko.
