James Joseph Myers Sr.
December 2nd, 1920 - June 17th, 2021
Mr. Myers was the youngest of eight children born to Thomas Henry Myers and Mary Elizabeth Murphy, in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1938 and joined the Army in 1941. Upon his discharge, he went back to Buffalo and enrolled in and graduated from Canisius College. He met and married Dorothy Jean Drieborg in 1946. They were married over 50 years. Mr. Myers moved to Venice, Florida, in 1986. He was a member of the Venice City Council, Capri Isle Golf Club, YMCA, Sertoma, Epiphany Cathedral and volunteered at the Venice Hospital for 29 years. He is survived by four of his five children, James J Myers, Jr. (Margaret), Reston, Virginia, Christine Ferguson (John), Westerville, Ohio, Wade Myers (Carol), Mesa, Arizona, Anne Yeager (Terry), Weaverville, NC, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial Mass will take place at Epiphany Cathedral on March 28, 2022, at 11:00 am, with a reception following.
