James "Jim" E. Redd
October 12th, 1922 - February 20th, 2013
James E. "Jim" Redd, 90, of Haines City, FL passed away on February 20, 2013 of congestive heart failure. He was born on October 12, 1922 at home in rural Leon County, Florida, the youngest of 3 boys. Jim graduated from Leon high school in 1939 then met and married his beloved wife, Mary Nell Yawn in October 1942. Shortly thereafter he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. Jim then attended Tri-State Univ. in 1946 where he obtained his license as a C.P.A.. He moved back to Florida in 1953, living in Tallahassee where he worked for state government until 1959. He then moved to Frostproof and went to work for Ben Hill Griffin, Jr., retiring in 1984. In retirement he enjoyed his winters in Grenelefe and his summers in North Carolina and he had a true passion for golf. Jim is predeceased by his wife, Mary Nell Redd and he is survived by his daughter, Janell Redd Howard; granddaughter, Jessica Stuart; grandson, Vincent W. Howard, III and wife Cali; and granddaughter, Chloe Howard. A gathering of friends will be Monday from 9:30 until the service at 10:30 am at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
