James ""Jim"" Whennen, of North Port, Florida, formerly of Ocala, Florida, passed away on September 11, 2021. Jim was born in Decatur, Illinois, on February 22, 1961. Jim served our country in the United States Army and work as an over the road truck driver. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Dan Whennen. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Whennen of North Port, FL; mother, Janet Whennen of Ocala, FL; sister, Sarah Simon of Ocala, FL, LeAnn Woodard of Decatur, IL; children, James Whennen Jr of South Carolina, Andrea Harding of Champaign, IL, Alexander Concepcion of North Port, FL, Arizona DiMichele of North Port, FL; grandchildren, Ashle Ginos, Nicholas Ginos, Haley Bandy, LaDonna Houchins, Chyenne Cloud, Joni Suttles; niece, Brandi Simon; nephew, Brandson Simon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to: SunCoast Humane Society, 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood, Florida 34224, (941) 474-7884.
