James "Jim" Samuel White

James Samuel White died on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Aspen Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a member of Payne Chapel AME Church for many years.Jim was born on November 30, 1931 in Brunswick, Georgia to Samuel White and Eva Thomas. At a young age they moved to Wellborn, Florida and at the age of nine, his mother died. His father would retire first as a railroad worker and then as a home builder. He attended Wellborn Elementary School and would go on to graduate with honors from Richardson High School. Jim later joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years, after which he worked at a post office for two years. He attended and graduated from correspondence school at La Salle University, and also graduated from Midwest Business College with a degree in Accounting. He passed his test in Denver to become a Certified Public Accountant and ran his own business for fifty-nine years.Jim is survived by his wife, Elaine White; children, James Andrew White, Victor Wendell White, Audrey DeLinda Santana, and Darrell Lavene White; stepchildren, Diane Scott, Andrew Barrow, Joyce J. Barrow, and Sheila V. Parker; stepbrother, Eugene Christian; sisters-in-law, Betty McChriston and Annie Thomas; ten grandchildren; lots of great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; and many cousins.He is preceded in death by his parents, Eva Thomas and Sam White; and his stepmother, Lucile White.
