Jane Homer Dickerson passed away March 10, 2015 at her home in Fountain, CO. She was an astonishing woman, devoted wife, beloved mother and excellent homemaker. Jane was born in Canton, Ohio on August 27, 1920 to Marvin and Eva Homer. Jane learned the importance of volunteering and participation in organizations for the welfare of others from her parents who were very active in business and community affairs on a local and county basis. Jane met her future husband, Robert William Dickerson while attending high school in Canton after being introduced by her older sister, Louise. They eventually became engaged during her senior year at Miami University at Oxford, Ohio. Jane graduated June 1, 1942 and married Robert on June 13 at Randolph Field in San Antonio, Texas where he was a Lieutenant undergoing pilot training in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the start of World War II. Jane accompanied her husband to more than fifteen duty stations during his twenty-seven years in the Army Air Corps and eventually United States Air Force, in the United States and abroad. During those years and moves, they had and raised four children – Jane in 1943, Robert in 1945, Candace in 1947 and Katherine in 1950. Upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1968, they settled in Falls Church, VA where Jane lived until 2014. Robert preceded Jane in passing on November 4, 1987.During their journeys, Jane served with the American Red Cross as both a volunteer and paid staff member. Her efforts included extensive work with youth and disaster relief. After settling, Jane continued serving her community including work with the Falls Church Committee Council, both as President and Member, the Dulin United Methodist Church, the Fairfax County Chapter of the Red Cross as Youth Coordinator, the National Headquarters of the Red Cross as Coordinator of Volunteers, and Homestretch.
