Janice Smith McKay WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Janice Smith McKay, 71, of West Columbia, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. Joe Copeland. Burial will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to North Trenholm Baptist church, 6515 N. Mrs. McKay, beloved wife of Elery Loyd "Pete" McKay, Jr., passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011. Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late James R. Smith, Sr. and Eva Mae Roof Smith. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors where she enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She retired from the Dept. of Social Services after many years of devoted service. Surviving in addition to her husband of 52 years, Elery Loyd "Pete" McKay, Jr.; children, Penelope "Pam" Baker, Rusty McKay, Sheryl McKay Celorier and Kim Seawell (Robbie); grandchildren, Jason Baker, Dr. Brandi Baker, Darren Celorier, Amber Celorier, Brandon Baker, Britney Baker, Kristin Seawell, John Robert Seawell II, Noah Lopez-Seawell, Sebastian Lopez-Seawell; two great-grandchildren, Tylden and Logan along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, J.R. Smith, Jr. and a sister, Patsy Ann Smith. Family and friends may sign online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com
