Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
Jason Paul Steffen
June 28th, 1967 - April 16th, 2019
Jason Paul Steffen of West Allis, formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away Monday evening April 16,2019 at the age of 51 after embracing a lifestyle of drug use. He was strong willed and stubborn, but unable to use those strengths in a secret war against in his biggest enemy, heroin. In letters written to himself and discovered after his death, he described his battles against what he knew was dark, evil, and destructive, yet inescapable and overwhelming. Jason loved his family, his cats, hunting and fishing. When he wasn’t working as a steamfitter, he spent a lot of time at the family farm near Fort Atkinson. Jason graduated from Fort Atkinson High in 1985, and then completed his service to our country in the U.S Army serving in the Graves Registration division. He had a huge soft spot for his nieces and nephews and leaves an enormous hole in our family. Jason is survived by his mother JoAnn Steffen Brushaber (Melvin), wife of 20+ years Melissa, Brother Jaime (Robin) Steffen, nephews Luke Steffen, Thomas (Olivia) Steffen, niece Natalie (Stephen) Windham, grand-nephews Owen, Tate, and grand-niece Eliza. He was preceded in death by his father John Steffen. Visitation will be at Nitardy Funeral Home 1008 Madison Ave.Fort Atkinson, WI. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 7 PM to 9 PM. Nitardy Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. www.nitardyfuneralhome.com

We Entrusted Jason Steffen's Care To
Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
