Jayden Peter Haavisto, 19 of Esko passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 26, 2021 in his home. He was born May 1, 2001 in Duluth, Minnesota to Angela Lanari and Josh Haavisto. Jayden graduated from Esko High School in 2019. During and after high school he worked at ABRA Auto Body as a customer service manager. During the summer of 2020, he worked at Mlaskoch Utility and Construction. For the past four months he worked at Inter-Faith Care Center as a certified nursing assistant. Jayden was registered to attend college and intended to pursue a degree in nursing. Jayden was an "old soul" that had a big heart filled with kindness. He was always known as a hard worker who respected others. Jayden loved the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and spent many deer hunting seasons at his Papa Mike and Grammie Sue's house. Dirt biking was something he absolutely loved since he was four years old. In addition, he loved spending time with his close friends and girlfriend, Leslie. He adored all his cousins and thought of them like siblings. Jayden will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jayden was preceded in death by his father, Josh Haavisto in 2013 and his grandfather, Peter Lanari in 2014. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his parents, Angela and Jason Collard of Esko; brothers, Hunter Haavisto of Virginia and Jacob Collard of Cloquet; sisters, Anna and Mikaylee Collard both of Cloquet; nephew, Jaxton Collard Nelson of Cloquet; his girlfriend, Leslie Solis of Duluth; grandparents, Liz Lanari of Ishpeming, MI, Nancy Lanari of Virginia, Michael and Susan Haavisto of Britt, and James and Donna Collard of Duluth; great grandmothers, Shirley Jarvela and Charlotte Haavisto; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Visitation: 12:00 Noon until the 2:00 p.m. memorial service Saturday, April 17, 2021 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Masks and social distancing are required. From the funeral home parking lot, the service can be heard on FM 98.3. A video recording of the service will be on the funeral home website Saturday evening.
