Jeanette “Jean” Carter was born on March 8, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Bernard Salas and Camellia Salas. She went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2024 at William Childs Hospice in Palm Bay, Florida.

Although born in Pennsylvania, Jean loved living in Florida with its palm trees and sunsets. She grew up in Apopka, where she later graduated from Apopka Memorial High School, married and had her three children. The family then moved to Bradenton, Florida, where she worked at West Bradenton Baptist Church as a church records keeper. Always active in the church, Jean also traveled with the Florida Baptist Singing Women. After retirement, Jean moved to Brevard County and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Melbourne, sang in the choir, volunteered at Salvation Army, hospital gift shops, and her local craft group where she knit many prayer shawls.

Jean leaves her most precious memories to her children, Susan (Tim) Reynolds, Keith Carter, and Brian (Teresa) Carter; sister Ellen; grandchildren, William (Britney) Carter, Emily (Nathan) White, Daniel Reynolds, Kimberly Carter, and Megan Reynolds; and great-grandson, nieces and nephews, and many of those who came to know her and call her friend.

Memorial service will be conducted on September 6, 2024 at 2:00 at First Baptist Church of Melbourne
