Jeffrey Olsen

Jeff Olsen entered this life on July 16, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the second son of Stan and Vicki Olsen. At 36 years and 363 days, he went Home to to be with our Lord, on July 14, 2014 in the ICU at Aurora Medical Center South, in Aurora, Colorado. He was surrounded by family and friends, all of whom loved him very much. He is survived by his Mother, Vicki Hastings; Step-Father, Ed Hastings; Father, Stan Olsen; older brother, Chris Olsen and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and good friends. Jeff was a graduate of Smoky Hill High School, class of 1996. He attended Gallaudet University, Community College of Denver and Community College of Aurora. Jeff struggled with profound deafness, as well as other life challenges, during his short life, but he always was ready to reach out to help others along the way. Jeff had a huge heart and he loved children and animals, especially his dogs Elmo, Buddy and Chewbacca. Jeff enjoyed acting in local theater companies, loved our Denver Broncos and enjoyed the other local sports teams. He loved science fiction, fantasy, action and adventure movies and was an avid and passionate comic book collector. He was very talented in many areas, was an accomplished chef, learned how to sign in ASL, learned how to read lips, had an incredible sense of humor, an infectious smile and the best laugh in the universe! Jeff loved to travel with his family and was blessed to have gone to the United Kingdom, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Hawaii and all the great locations within the USA. Jeff was a conduit of God’s love and he touched so many lives in very special ways! He will be greatly missed by us all, but we know he is in a much better place and is finally at Peace. Saturday, September 6, 2014, from Noon to 2:30 PM, at Mile High Calvary Church, 215 West County Line Rd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129, will be the day we have planned for the memorial service for Jeff. This will be a time of remembering the good times we each had with Jeff and we would like everyone who would like to come prepared to share those times with all of us. We will have an interpreter there, so that everyone may participate. In honor of Jeff’s favorite past times, we are asking those that feel comfortable to please come dressed in Broncos or a super hero garb. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetary on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 2:15 to 2:30 PM in Staging Area “C”. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to TWM, Inc., P O Box 440234, Aurora, CO 80044 in hopes of establishing the Jeffrey B. Olsen Foundation to assist those in the deaf community who struggle with addictions.
