Jennifer Brady, 74, of Englewood, Florida, passed away peacefully at 8 pm on June 27, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice, surrounded by loved ones.

Jennie was a beloved wife for 55 years, and a mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, digging in her garden, and caring for her cats. With her gift for words, she also enjoyed playing Scrabble and doing crosswords.

Jen spent most of her adult life in Bayside NY, Port Washington NY, and Rochester NY. She also lived in Tokyo, where she taught English to Japanese businessmen.

A kind and sweet soul, she made many friends along the way. Everyone who knew Jennie liked her and enjoyed her company.

When her granddaughter was born, she and her husband relocated to Englewood so they could be an integral part of her upbringing.

Jennie had been fighting a number of ailments for three years and was brave until the very end. The saying, “She’s in a better place,” is certainly true in her case.

Jennie was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the late Chester and Hilda Douple née Rhoads. She is survived by her husband Frank Brady, her daughter Tania Brady, her son-in-law Jon Wasluk, her granddaughter Nina Wasluk, all of Englewood; as well as by her brother Alfred Douple, and her sisters Marina Mattern and Elizabeth McDevitt, all of Lancaster. She had earlier lost her brother, Vietnam Veteran, Eric Douple, of Lancaster. She is also survived by her two best friends, whom she would have wanted to be included, Cynthia Rudolph of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Marsha Rawhauser, of Lancaster.

Donations in Jennifer’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Suncoast Humane Society.

At a later date, a Celebration of Life will be announced to commemorate Jennifer’s beautiful life.
