Jerry Gene Caldwell, 69, of Nokomis, FL, retired police officer from the Venice Police Department, died January 6, 2014. Jerry was born March 2, 1944 in New Paris, OH to Virginia (Rose) and Marion T. Caldwell. A graduate of Purdue University, Jerry received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Survivors include three children: Roger, Eric and Joe; 7 grandchildren; brother, Marion Caldwell and sister, Joyce Cox. He also leaves ex-wife and the mother of his children, Marylou Caldwell. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, January 13, 2014 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
