November 11th, 1933 - July 21st, 2015
Jerry E. Meeks, 81, of Auburndale, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. Born November 11, 1933 in Winter Haven he was a lifelong resident of the area. Jerry was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Korean War. He was of the Baptist Faith, and retired after working for both Lance and Little Debbie snacks for many years. He was also, among many other things in his lifetime a past president of the Sertoma Athletic Club and the Dixie Youth Baseball League. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and a granddaughter. Jerry is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Weston Meeks; a daughter, Trudy Stogner and husband Steve of Sarasota; 2 sons, Wade Meeks and wife Amy of Winter Haven and Mark Meeks and wife Karen of Auburndale; 2 sisters, Juanelle Hurt of Winter Haven, and Carolyn Plowden and husband Miles of Lake Wales; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm till 8:00pm Friday, July 24, 2015 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral Services will be at 10:00am Saturday, July 25, 2015 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Winter Haven.
