Jerry Edward Nelson
June 12th, 1935 - December 19th, 2023
Jerry Edward Nelson, 88, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 19, 2023 at home in his wife's arms.
He was born on June 12, 1935 to Ed and Marguerite in Pomona, California. Jerry went to high school at Oakes High School in North Dakota and graduated in 1953. He went on to earn a degree in mathematics from Valley City State Teacher's College of North Dakota.
Jerry worked as a systems analyst for Aerojet Rocket Co. for 35 and a half years.
He received the 1000 Hour award and was involved in Mercy Hospital Guild.
Jerry enjoyed golf and singing in choir and the barbershop quartet.
Jerry loved his wife of 63 years, and was a strong, steady, positive support and encouragement to his friends and family. He loved to study the Bible and wanted to tell everyone about his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Westfall and Beverly Humphrey; and his parents, Ed and Marguerite Nelson.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Nancy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Tom Nelson; daughters, Lori Blair and Susan Walker; grandchildren, Jacob Walker, Mylee Nelson, Nicolle, and Collin Blair.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Abode Hospice of Colorado Springs.
A memorial graveside service was held on February 10, 2024 in the family plot at Newcastle, California.
