COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Jimmy Alvin Evans, 59, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, in First Baptist Church of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. Bill Drees. Interment will follow at Olympia Cemetery. Serving as pallbearer's will be Larry Evans, Michael Fulmer, Brandon Evans, Larry Glenn, Terry Evans, Jr., and David O'Neal. Honorary pallbearer will be Adam Evans. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden St., Columbia, SC 29201. Mr. Evans passed away on March 13, 2012. Born October 7, 1952, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Crawford Ernest Evans and Sheppie Eloise Evans. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Columbia; and was a long time dedicated employee of Action Containers and The State Newspaper until he became disabled. Mr. Evans was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. Survivors include: his son, James Alvin Evans; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Evans; brothers, Sammy L. Evans (Annette), Johnny C. Evans, Larry D. Evans (Wanda), Jerry D. Evans (Amanda), and Terry W. Evans; sisters, Ginger Evans Forth (Pat), Debra Evans Judson (Curt), Karen "Lisa" Evans Broadus (Allen); granddaughters, Samantha Robinson, Maggie Robinson; grandsons, Danny Michael, Deven Michael and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ernest Evans and two sisters, Elizabeth Eloise Evans and Elaine Evans Mims.
