Jimmy Ray Hughes

In loving Memory of Jimmy Ray Hughes, 84, of Davenport, Florida who passed away on February 15, 2021 in Haines City, Florida. He was born on April 8, 1936 in Ariton, Alabama to Jim Robert and Minnie Reece Miller Hughes. Jimmy met and married the woman of his dreams, Janet Manning Hughes, on April 12, 1958. They remained married for 55 years and were blessed with four children. Jimmy was ordained in the ministry on April 5, 1972 and devoted the rest of his life to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Janet; son, William Ray Hughes; parents, Jim and Minnie, as well as sisters, Marie Lanier and Elizabeth Patterson. Jimmy is survived by daughter, Janet Lanese Mays and her husband, Richard; son, Robert Wayne Hughes; daughter, Verlinda Reece Hughes and her husband, Marc Webber; daughter-in-law, Marie Hughes; sister, Lorene Hughes; grandson, Jeremy Kyle Hughes; granddaughter, Amber Lanese Hughes; grandson, Justin Hughes and his wife, Maddie; Grandson, Chad Hughes and his wife, Angela; great grandchildren, Ashton, Kameron, Jackson, Hayden and Hudson. Visitation will be Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City at 10 am and a funeral service will follow at 1 pm at Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City with Brother Bobby King officiating and Debra Oats singing “The Anchor Holds” and “Amazing Grace.” Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
