JoAnn Hess was born in Portland Oregon, were she resided there until her death. JoAnn passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family. JoAnn was loved by many. She enjoyed just being around people and being able to try new things. She was uplifting and good spirited and enjoyed life and was bound and determined to live each day to it's fullest. She didn't let much stop her. Because of her wonderful personality, she made lifelong friends and was truly loved. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hess, her mother, Doris Kelly, her sisters Patty Keogh and Toni Grubb, her brother Mike Kelly, her children, David Schneibel, Steve Odry, and Kendal Wallis, and her grand children, Caleb, Chloe and Charlee Wallis. A service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home. 6705 SE 14th Ave, Portland, Oregon. Service Information

At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
