JoAnn Westphall
1940 – 2024
JoAnn V. Westphall, age 84 passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. JoAnn was born on February 2, 1940 in West Allis to Mabel (Robinson) and Edward Ott.
She married Donald Westphall on June 6, 1959 in Hebron and later started a family of four children.
JoAnn owned a cleaning service for most of her career years. Although her customers appreciated clean homes and offices, what they really enjoyed the most was the home-baked goods they would receive each week.
JoAnn enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating, gardening, canning, camping, dancing, biking and her many animals. She enjoyed entering the open 4-H baking classes each year earning several grand champion placings as well as being the 4-H Baking Leader for several years. She found joy in endless baking and giving away her fresh baked goods to others to enjoy. She was especially known for going above and beyond during the holidays and making every type of cookie you could imagine.
Surviving are her children, Vicki (John) Mansavage, Mike (Carol) Westphall, Penny (Jon) Bound, and Scott (Micheal) Westphall. Six grandchildren, David Mansavage, Monica (Chris) Wolf, Shelby, Emma and Daniel Westphall, and Matthew (Andie) Westphall. One great granddaughter – Lainey Wolf. Sister, Nancy Bigelow. JoAnn is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Donald, sisters Marlene Cooper and Shirley Ludwicki, and brothers Edward Ott Jr and Donald Ott.
At the request of JoAnn, there will not be a visitation or service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chad and the staff at Mulberry Glen Assisted Living and the staff of Rainbow Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and great care she received. Mulberry Glen became home, and it was evident they were family too.
A special thank you goes out to the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club – to those life-long friends that never wavered and always remained by her side.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial gift to Mulberry Glen or Rainbow Hospice.

We Entrusted JoAnn Westphall's Care To
Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
