John Edward Bode

John passed on to his eternal home recently. He had been living in Colorado Springs, Colorado.He was born to Harriet and Robert Bode on September 7, 1954 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.John was the fifth child born to Harriet and Robert Bode, who predeceased him as well as his older brother, Robert (Gisele) Bode, Jr. of Grand Prairie, Texas. Surviving siblings include Catherine (Blair) Friederich of Tucson, Arizona, Therese (David) Birkhauser of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Peter Bode of Winfield Woods, Illinois, and Marcia (Stephen) Pierson of Wheaton, Illinois.He is survived by his sons, Neil (Colby) Bode of Poulsbo, Washington, and Tim Bode of Chicago, Illinois; and his former wife, Sheila Silva of Chicago, Illinois. John was also an uncle to Christina McLaughlin, Rob Bode, Andrew Bode, Ash Friederich, Anne Adams, Aimee Kintner, Matt Pierson, Dan Pierson, and Tom Pierson.John was a graduate of Columbia College and the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked as a graphic journalist and illustrator for The Chicago Tribune for most of his career. John was an accomplished fine artist as well. His artwork represented his love of nature and the great outdoors.He would love to be remembered as a gentle soul, brother, and father.Arrangements are being handled by The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
