After John's graduation from Lakewood High in Lakewood, OH John accepted a full ride football scholarship to Northwestern University. John enlisted in The United States Coast Guard in 1968. He served as a Radioman on board, The USCGC Mellon, stationed in Hawaii. It was during that time that John's ship did a tour of Vietnam. John ended his time in the Coast Guard in 1972 while stationed in Muskegon, MI. Following his time in the service, he went to work for the Airlines. He started his career with Ozark Airlines in 1975 at Chicago O'Hare Airport, then Trans World Airlines at Dallas/Fort Worth and Detroit Airports in 1986, and finally, at Orlando International Airport with American Airlines as a Ramp Service Supervisor before retiring in 2006. He continued with his world travels in the Coast Guard and blossomed with the love of his life, Gail, while they both worked for the airlines. John was a beloved husband, father, uncle, godfather and so much more. His most treasured role was that of husband and father. He was truly a family man who would do anything for those he loved most. He enjoyed his job with the airlines and loved to travel with his family. He also loved and enjoyed sports. John played football, lifted weights and other sports when he was young and as he grew his family, he loved to share his love of sports with his children. DA BEARS!
