John Joseph Chacon
September 24th, 1934 - April 18th, 2015
John Joseph Chacon, was called home by the Lord on April 18, 2015. He was born September 24, 1934, in Aguilar, Colorado to parents Eloisa Garcia and Daniel Chacon. He was wed to his loving wife, Jennie Marie Chacon, on February 28, 1954. They were married for 61 years. He was a proud Federal retiree, having worked for the United States Mint for 30 years, from 1960-1990. While at the Mint, he had the opportunity to work with the 1988 Olympic Committee, assisting in the creation of the 1988 Olympic Gold Medal. He was a member of St Joseph's Men's Club at St. Catherine's Church, where he assisted and cared for those less fortunate in his community. He was a generous man who loved God and Family. He provided for his family and made sure they never went without. He was a kind, loving father and husband who loved to tell jokes, dancing with his beautiful wife, and supporting and surrounding himself with his family. He was greatly loved by his family and friends and devoted his life to caring for the people he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elosia Garcia and Daniel Chacon, and (birth father) Ben Rival (DeCarlo); His Brother in Laws Dan Trujillo, Skip Trujillo, Johnny Trujillo, and Max Trujillo, Paul Barela; His Sister in Laws, Tillie, Josephine, Rose, and Josie. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Marie Chacon; his children, Dr. Phyllis Marie Chacon, Joseph (Deanna) Chacon and Steve (Lisa) Chacon, Tracy and Terry Chesser and numerous God children; siblings, Ben "Confy" Chacon, Edna (Max) Contreras, grandchildren, Sumer, Breezy, Mitch, Daniel, Destiny, Amanda, Tara, Erika, Caylee, Beto, Nash, Rachel, Bobbi Lee, Tanya, and Nicholas; great grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, Justice, Olivia, Lilly, Aaliyah, Cecelia, and Naomee. Services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Guardian Angels Church, 1843 West 52nd Ave, Denver, 80221. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, Mass will be at 12:00 PM. Reception to follow services at the VFW, 4747 West Colfax, Denver, 80204.
