John Martin French, a Colorado businessman and community leader, passed away on October 16, 2015. He was 72. He graduated cum laude in business from the U of Arkansas where he was President of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He went on to earn an MBA in Marketing from the U of Texas at Austin. He married his wife of 48 years, Joan Marie Sazama, in 1967, and together they raised two children. Rachel French Ford (Brendan) and Christopher Martin French. John is also survived by his brother, Robert Leigh French, and his beloved granddaughter, Rian Sofia Ford. John’s business career included Marketing for Shell Oil Co, Director of Marketing for CO National Bankshares where he won the Alfie Award for television campaigns, and VP of Marketing. HR and Admin and Director for Hanifen-Imhoff Holding Corp and it’s subsidiaries. John also served in the Medical Service Corp at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital where he was Aide to the General & Hospital Treasurer. John was a tireless community volunteer, including participation in Leadership Denver, membership in the Denver Chamber’s Presidents’ Club, and a deep dedication to the work of the University Hills Rotary Club.
